Promotion of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Serbia

The closing conference entitled “Promotion of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Serbia” within this year’s cycle of conferences, symposia, and workshops in the Republic of Serbia dedicated to the intangible cultural heritage has been held at the Ethnographic Museum.

Reminding that each state party to the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage is bound to create a list or registry, Minister of Culture Predrag Markovic has stated that so far, the Ministry, adhering to the obligations arising from the Convention, has established a system/network for the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage, which consists of the National Committee for the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Commission for Inscription in the National Registry of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, as well as the network of coordinators, and that the Center for the Intangible Cultural Heritage Studies at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade will start operating early next year.

The President of the National Committee for the Intangible Cultural Heritage, Dusica Zivkovic, has presented the current activities related to the implementation of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Republic of Serbia.

Vilma Niskanovic, President of the Commission for Inscription in the National Registry of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, and regional coordinators have presented proposals for inscription on the national list of the intangible cultural heritage, which is one of the most important steps taken to implement the Convention
