Slovak naive painting encompasses the artwork of self-taught artists, members of the Slovak ethnic community in Serbia. The basic features of Slovak naive painting include a distinct style of expression relying on the motifs from the rural environment and everyday life of painters. The artistic expression determined by the rural environment and Slovak folk tradition is especially typical of the older generations of artists, while the works of younger artists, exposed to the influence of life in more urbanized areas with wide social communication, also feature modern motifs.
Naive Slovak painting encompasses the painting knowledge and skills of painters – members of the Slovak ethnic community in Serbia, primarily in Kovačica, but also in other villages and towns in Vojvodina predominantly inhabited by Slovaks.
